Allies Set (Wood)

Description

I make coasters of Ash lumber that I get from a local mil.  I like Ash because it is local to my area, not too hard on the blades, and the light color is good for contrast engraving. Each coaster is 3.75 inches square and 5/8" thick.  This is beefier than most coasters which are usually 1/4" to 1/2".  But I think the heft is classy, and worthy to be called queer.

The bottom features the T4Timbers logo.  Each piece has four waterproof cork "feet" in various colors.  They are finished Odie's water-resistant hard wax.

The sides of these boxes are constructed with hardwoods local to the Hudson Valley and milled in my shop. The tops and bottoms consist of 1/4 plywood and hand-cut and glued veneers. Combining these types of woods and veneer address two needs. First, plywood is more stable than hardwood so it can accommodate the movement of wood which never stops. Second, veneer is more sustainable because one tree can provide thousands of sheets of veneer.

The linings are made of cork -- a fast growing, highly renewable tree.

I finish the boxes with a hard wax called Rubio Monocoat which has no VOCs.

These medicine boxes are 11" long, 4" wide and 2.75 high. Important note: the vial holders are 1/2" wide and accommodate vials up to 1.5". (This generally means up to 200mg/1 mL

According to the maker of Rubio Monocoat, which is the finish I use, these surfaces need only be dusted periodically. If needed, a water-dampened cloth or mop may be used to wipe down the surface.

Rubio makes a "Surface Care Spray" which is the only recommended cleaner.

I want you to love your box. Keep in mind that each box is unique and none is "perfect." Each has its own strengths and flaws. If you don't love it, please contact me for an exchange or refund.
